The company is one of the largest independent investment management firms in Malaysia and consistently ranks among the country’s top players. The company is based in Kaula Lumpur, Malaysia. It serves institutional investors, corporate investors, and high-net-worth individuals. Its portfolio includes a variety of investment strategies and offers a variety of wholesale and retail funds.

Affin Hwang Investment Bank Berhad is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Affin Holdings Berhad, a financial services conglomerate listed on the Bursa Malaysia Stock Exchange. The bank has its head office in Malaysia and has many branches throughout the region. On 13 December 2013, the bank entered a partnership agreement with Daiwa Securities Group Inc.; this partnership carried over to Affin Hwang Capital. In July 2014, the company also formed a strategic alliance with Thanachart Securities PCL, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Thanachart Bank.

The firm has announced that Mona Suraya Kamaruddin will step down from her position as chief executive officer of Affin Group’s investment banking arm. The board of Affin Hwang Investment Bank Bhd thanked Mona for her contributions. Mona is an experienced investment banker, having previously worked with JPMorgan Chase & Co and Nomura Holdings Inc.
